Terms of Service

Last updated: 3 May 2026

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of ShieldSign and the services provided through getshieldsign.com (collectively, the "Service"). ShieldSign is operated by Lee Stephenson, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. What ShieldSign provides

ShieldSign is an AI-assisted contract check tool intended for UK freelancers and contractors. The Service ingests a contract document or pasted text and returns a structured analysis: a fairness score, a list of clause-level risk flags with plain- English explanations, and suggested rewrite language for the higher-risk items.

2. Not legal advice

ShieldSign is not a law firm, is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and does not provide legal advice. The analysis output is provided for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for independent legal advice from a qualified solicitor. For high-value, complex, or disputed matters, you must consult a qualified solicitor.

3. Free and paid tiers

The free tier of the Service is provided without warranty and may change or be withdrawn at any time. The £7 paid full report comes with a refund if a material clause is missed in the analysis, notified within 30 days of purchase with reasonable supporting information. Pro and Business subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe and can be cancelled at any time from the dashboard.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to upload content you do not have the right to share, to attempt to reverse-engineer or scrape the Service, to upload malware, or to use the Service in connection with any unlawful activity.

5. Privacy and data handling

Contract text submitted to the Service is processed in real time and not retained on ShieldSign servers after the analysis completes, beyond the share-link record required to surface the result back to the user. See the privacy policy for full details.

6. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by English law, ShieldSign's total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) is limited to the fees paid by the user to ShieldSign in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to liability. ShieldSign excludes liability for indirect, consequential, or special losses including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or loss of data.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under English law.

7. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising under these Terms.

8. Changes to the Terms

ShieldSign may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
